The best way to understand author Jon Turk is to read his own words:

My life is a tapestry of writing, public speaking, expeditions, and living my daily life. For almost forty years I have wandered through exotic and remote landscapes and returned to write and speak about my adventures, the people, and the environments that I have been lucky enough to encounter. I was trained as a scientist and in the beginning I merely considered my travels to be a series of physical challenges to overcome and goals to attain. That was a long time ago.

In Siberia, the harshest of lands, I met Moolynaut, a shaman of the Koryak people. Through her teachings, and the patient conversations of many men and women, I began to see the world as our ancestors saw it. "The Raven's Gift" tells the story of my search for physical and spiritual healing among the people of forgotten seas and tundra.

In 2000 Jon Turk was in the remote Siberian village of Vyvenka where he met Moolynaut. A year later, Moolynaut asked the great black raven to help heal Jon’s pelvis that he previously fractured. He was able to walk again without pain, but as a scientist, he was confused because it didn't make logical sense. So he began to search for the Raven Spirit in Siberia and the outcome is his new book, “The Raven’s Gift.”

We are happy to be able to showcase Jon and his new book on Tuesday, March 16 at 7 p.m. at Nicola’s Books for a discussion and book signing. Should you have any questions about the event please contact us at 734-662-0600 or at nicolasbooks@tds.net.
