Boychoir of Ann Arbor plans three area holiday concerts
Performances are slated for:
• 7 p.m. Friday, December 11 at First Presbyterian Church of Ypsilanti, 300 North Washington St., Ypsilanti.
• 3 p.m. Saturday, December 12 at First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor, 1432 Washtenaw Ave., Ann Arbor.
• 5 p.m. Sunday, December 13 at First Presbyterian Church of Howell, 323 West Grand River, Howell.
This popular holiday concert series will again feature both the Performing and Preparatory Choirs of the Boychoir of Ann Arbor. The concerts will open with the classic processional “Once in Royal David’s City” and end with the 23-year closing tradition, John Gardner’s “Tomorrow shall be my dancing day.”
This year “A Boychoir Christmas” will feature some new additions to the program, including Alan Bullard's “Glory to the Christ Child”, John Rutter’s “Shepherd’s Pipe Carol” and “Salve puerule” by Marc-Antoine Charpentier. The Preparatory Choir will sing “Gaudete!” accompanied by some of the older boys playing hand bells.
The audience is always invited to join in singing “Hark! the herald angels sing” and “O come, all ye faithful.” Other audience-participation carols include “Once in royal David’s city” and “God rest you merry, gentlemen.”
