Carriage House Theatre up to bat with baseball comedy 'Rounding Third'

By Roger LeLievre

Batter up! The two-character baseball comedy “Rounding Third” is the latest offering from Ann Arbor’s Carriage House summer theater group.

Coaching little league baseball is not always a home run. Newcomer Michael, who believes being on a team should be more about fun than about being competitive, joins on as assistant to veteran coach Don, who has a simple philosophy: Win. Don’s son is the team’s star pitcher, while Michael’s son, like Michael, is new in town and inexperienced at baseball. As the comedy unfolds, the two coaches struggle to employ their differing philosophies on winning the game versus enjoying the game.

As you might guess, “Rounding Third” is not entirely about baseball after all.

“Rounding Third” continues through July 27 (Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m.). Carriage House Theater is located at 541 Third St Admission is free, with a $10 suggested donation. The house opens 15 minutes prior to the beginning of every show and seats are first come, first served. Details at (734) 546-6441.
