Earlier this spring, Catholic Social Services of Washtenaw County sponsored an open-themed photography contest seeking images to be displayed at the agency’s Washtenaw Child Advocacy Center. The winners—three adults, three youth, and two honorable mentions—were honored at a reception June 14 at the WCAC office in Ypsilanti.

A program of CSSW, the WCAC works with the Michigan Department of Human Services, Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s office, local law enforcement agencies, health professionals, and victims advocates to conduct forensic interviews and make team decisions about the investigation, treatment, and prosecution of child sexual abuse cases. This team approach helps minimize the trauma to children and families by offering crisis intervention services, coordinated case management and emotional support as the case goes through the legal system.

Here are the award winners:

• Grand Prize: Denise Rohde, “Hot Dogging in Ypsi” • Second Place: Elaine Ang, “Let Your Sparkler Shine” • Third Place: Scott Kueffner, “Before the Water Balloon Fight” • Honorable Mention: Tara Truax, “Colored Forest” • Honorable Mention: Scott Kueffner, “Mesa Arch, Utah” • Youth Category Winners: Elise Kueffner, Rachel Sprauer, Nina Ang The Child Advocacy Center is located at 555 Towner in Ypsilanti.
