The Golden Globe Award nominations were announced earlier today, and a film partly shot in Ann Arbor - "The Ides of March" - earned 4 nods.

Specifically, the "Ides" nominations are for best picture, drama; best director, George Clooney; best actor, drama, Ryan Gosling; and best screenplay.

The film was shot primarily in Cincinnati, Detroit, and Ann Arbor earlier this year. Scenes were filmed locally inside U-M's Arthur Miller Theatre, Power Center, and Michigan League ballroom, and Ann Arbor Eberwhite Elementry fourth grader Talia Akiva played Clooney's daughter.

Based on Beau Willimon's play "Farragut North," "Ides" casts Clooney as a democratic Presidential hopeful, while Gosling plays the lead character — a wunderkind press secretary who finds himself embroiled in the ugly world of back-room politics.

Alright, we get it. They filmed a movie here. Anytime anything happens with it, we don't need the same story with the first line changed.
