Wendy Liebman brings her quick and clever comedy this weekend to Ann Arbor

By Ryan Levin

You might have seen Long Island comedian Wendy Liebman on one of her nine late-night appearances with Johnny Carson, David Letterman and Jay Leno. Or perhaps her on her HBO comedy specials or as part of the exhibit for female humor at the Smithsonian.

Liebman's been performing stand-up comedy for years, winning the American Comedy Award for best Female Stand-up Comedian in 1997 and influencing more recent acts like Last Comic Standing contestant Amy Schumer.

Wendy Liebman will perform in Ann Arbor this Thursday through Saturday

Her act is an unique and infectious blend of one-line and storyteller comedy, delivering short, wry observations leading up to a punchline that often turns the entire bit on its head. The jokes are all linked together as a series of sometimes self-effacing, sometimes comically insightfully vignettes.

Wendy Liebman will appearing at the Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase on East Liberty Street this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, performing one show Thursday night at 8 p.m. and two shows Friday and Saturday at 8 and 10:30.
