Opening for locally shot 'Flipped' uncertain; new website for area celebrity sightings
Rob Reiner, left, and Alan Horn, president and chief operating officer of Warner Bros., pose together at the premiere of "Flipped" in Los Angeles last month.

The Detroit Free Press has a brief, unattributed report saying that the Aug. 27 wide release for "Flipped" —Â Rob Reiner's coming-of-age movie shot in our area last summer — is being scaled back to just a handful of additional cities beyond the three where it's already showing, with none in Michigan.
Early reviews have been mixed, but some have been positive. (And it's not like bad reviews ordinarily stop a movie from being released, so this is a little puzzling.)
The "Flipped" page on the Internet Movie DataBase still lists an Aug. 27 general release, and the movie's official website only says it's "now playing in select cities." Meanwhile, to whet your appetite for whenever we finally get to see it, an unofficial "Flipped" fan site has sprung up. Keep watching AnnArbor.com for the latest on any possible release news.
