Cher mad at Oscar snub; 'The Office' hires Will Ferrell; touching 'Idol' moment

TV.com has a look at the Best Song category at the Academy Awards, but the most interesting angle is the fact that a song from "Burlesque" — which won the Golden Globe — isn't nominated. Cher has taken to Twitter to express her displeasure — and to lash out at a follower who disagreed.

MOVIES

• Before The Trailer reports that "Scream 4" is expected to return to Northville next week for a little additional shooting.

• The Detroit Free Press says that an upcoming big-budget "Wizard of Oz" prequel will shoot at a studio in Pontiac.

Shooting on "The Hobbit" has been delayed while director Peter Jackson undergoes surgery.

• The way they hand these things out, this does seem long overdue: Donald Sutherland has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

John Travolta is in talks to play John Gotti on screen.

• The Detroit News reports that the Detroit Film Theatre will screen a new movie by Michael Imperioli on Sunday.

• The controversy over "Tiger Mother" Amy Chua has apparently caught the attention of Hollywood.

Willow Smith is set to star in a remake of "Annie."

Kristen Stewart may play a live-action Snow White.

• There's a movie in the works about the female followers of Charles Manson.

TELEVISION

• A very emotional story and a very strong performance on last night's audition show sent one "American Idol" contestant on to the next round. Digital Spy has a recap of the entire episode.

• EW.com reports that Will Ferrell will guest star on four episodes of "The Office," playing a manager of a different Dunder-Mifflin branch.

MUSIC

Gladys Horton, the original lead singer of Motown's Marvelettes, has died at age 66, the Detroit Free Press reports.

• Also, country star Charlie Louvin has died at age 83.

• The Associated Press interviewed James Blunt, who has a new album out and a tour coming to the Michigan Theater.

• The Free Press has a brief preview of "Folk the Police," this weekend at the Blind Pig.

Jimmy Buffett has canceled a concert while recovering from a fall off a stage.

THEATER

• The Free Press has a positive review of Performance Network's "The War Since Eve."

• The Detroit News previews a simulcast of "Fela!" at the Michigan Theater this weekend.

GAMES

• MLive reports that Super Mario Bros. Crossover lets you play the original using other Nintendo characters, for free.
