New Call of Duty debuts; Darren Criss on 'Glee'; Buffalo Springfield to tour?

The big news in the gaming world is yesterday's release of Call of Duty: Black Ops.

The Los Angeles Times did a story speculating on how the game will do; it hopes to set a new sales record.

USAToday's review of the game says it plays quite well, while Cnet is just a little less enthusiastic.

Other entertainment news of note online today:

MUSIC

• "Breaking News," the first single off the upcoming posthumous Michael Jackson album, is being added to a lot of radio station playlists.

• In the latest "What year is this?" moment, Rolling Stone reports that Buffalo Springfield may go on tour next summer.

Kid Rock is slated to perform at the CMA Awards.

• The Michigan Daily likes the new Cee-Lo album, "The Lady Killer." The New York Times, not so much.

TELEVISION

• Recent University of Michigan grad Darren Criss made his anticipated debut as a new character on "Glee" last night. MTV.com's recap mentions Criss as a highlight. EW.com interviewed the actress who plays Coach Bieste, and The Atlantic had a "panel discussion" on the episode. Meanwhile, Playbill.com reports that Criss will be part of the series' next soundtrack album.

• The Washington Post has the lowdown on the latest elimination from "Dancing with the Stars."

• Summer visitor to Ann Arbor David Arquette is at work directing an episode of "CSI: Miami."

• MLive has its usual comprehensive recap of last night's episode of "Detroit 1-8-7."

Tina Fey received the Mark Twain Award last night.

• The Disney Channel has canceled the Jonas Brothers' show.

• Not sure I understand the point of Betty White being named an honorary park ranger.

MOVIES

• "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" leads the nominations for the People's Choice Awards.

Robert De Niro will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes.

THEATER

• The Manchester Enterprise writes about Manchester High School's upcoming production of "The Curious Savage."

ART & EXHIBITS

• The Washtenaw Voice has a feature on the Ann Arbor Women Artists.
