As I write this, the situation isn't any more official than it was at this time yesterday. But if it wasn't true, it sure seems like somebody would have denied it by now: Jennifer Lopez has reportedly signed a $12 million deal to become a judge on "American Idol." And the Los Angeles Times, for one, thinks it's a good idea.

Other entertainment news of note online today:

MUSIC

• MTV.com reports on the last of four joint shows by Jay-Z and Eminem, this one featuring Kanye West among the guests.

• Billboard has an interview with Phil Collins in which he discusses a new album of soul covers (featuring former members of Motown's Funk Brothers) and well as the (nonexistent) future for Genesis.

• Gotta admit I'm a little confused by this, but the Grand Rapids Press reports that Calvin College has canceled a planned show by the New Pornographers over worries about the band's name. (They know it's not serious, right? And they knew the name when they booked it, right? And ... oh, never mind.)

Jack White, who seems to have too much time on his hands, has sort of invented a new format of vinyl record.

TELEVISION

• The FCC is being asked to block a planned cartoon series featuring characters created to promote Skechers shoes.

• Actor Ryan Reynolds is producing a new sitcom for NBC.

• The Detroit News reports that Detroit native David Ramsey has landed a part on the new series "Outlaw."

Bret Michaels reportedly has a reality show in development called "Rock of Love Boat" to help couples with their relationship. As my colleague Renee notes, he does know what not to do.

FESTIVALS & FAIRS

• The Saline Reporter has a preview of the town's Harvest of the Arts Oktoberfest.
