The Dead Schembechlers — the Columbus-based pseudo-punk bank that has made a career out of trashing all things Ann Arbor — apparently won't be playing here after all.

Earlier this year, the band announced that it would play its first-ever Ann Arbor show as part of the run-up to this year's University of Michigan/Ohio State football game, which kicks off at noon Saturday in Michigan Stadium.

Apparently, there's been a change of plans.

The band's web site now features a banner on the home page reading "No shows in 2009." The News page features two announcements from lead singer Bo Biafra:

"First, that the Dead Schembechlers would not play previously announced shows (The Inglourious Buckeyes Tour) in Columbus and Ann Arbor. Second, that (the late Ohio State coach) Woody (Hayes) himself is appearing to Biafra in the guise of a burning couch to bring cryptic messages of apocalyptic madness."

There's more - lots more - on the web site, and you can even, if you want, follow Biafra on Twitter. However, there's no real explanation of the switch.

And here's a sample of what we're (not) missing out on - beware of profanity and general crudeness:
