Local DJ and entrepreneur DJ Graffiti will host a special raffle benefit party for Haiti relief efforts at 9 p.m. on Thursday at Rush Street.

In an email, Graffiti explains the motivation:

"I’ve felt for a while that I haven’t been doing enough to help people in need. I always try to do little things to help when I can, and I know I could have been volunteering at tons of places that need assistance, but that wasn’t what was in my heart. I’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to incorporate the talents I use daily to run my business to help those in need. With this raffle to benefit Haiti I’m able to incorporate marketing, music and corporate sponsorships to help the relief efforts in Haiti. As long as this event goes well I plan to throw similar events and fundraisers on a regular basis."

"A Raffle For Haiti" runs 9 p.m.-2 a.m. this Thursday, January 21, at Rush Street, 312 South Main Street. DJ Graffiti will provide music. No cover, but there is a $2 donation for each raffle ticket collected at the door. Ages 21+. Drink specials (until midnight) include $4 champagne, $4 Long Islands, and $1.50 Bud Light draft.

For more information (including the list of prizes): visit the Raffle for Haiti page at DJ Graffiti's web site. All of the raffle proceeds will be donated to the Yele Haiti foundation to assist in the relief efforts.
