Enjoy a Sparkling September Soiree with the Encore Theatre Company and celebrate 25 years of the Community Action Network

The Encore Musical Theatre Company will announce its fifth season on Tuesday with a Sparkling September Soiree. 6 p.m. Join Broadway stars Dan Cooney and Jessica Grove, along with some of your favorite Encore performers, for a special night of song and surprises. The evening begins with a silent auction, sparkling wine and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a special concert and announcement of the Encore's fifth season. $35. CRAFT

Hospice of Michigan will host a "Fly and Remember" event at Gallup Park & Canoe Livery on Tuesday. 6 p.m. This is a kite decorating event and memorial service. STORYTELLING

It's time again for "The Moth: Live Storytelling" at Circus Bar & Billiards on Tuesday. Doors open at 6 p.m., stories begin at 7:30 p.m. Moth shows are renowned for the great range of human experience they showcase. Each show starts with a theme, and the storytellers explore it, often in unexpected ways. Each story is true. This week's theme is "Unintended." $5 at the door. 210 S. First St., Ann Arbor.

See "UMS on Film: Icons Among Us: Jazz in the Present Tense" at the University of Michigan Museum of Art on Wednesday. 6 p.m. It will be followed by the UMMA Jazz Series: Pete Siers Organ Trio in the Forum at 8 p.m. The film examines the jazz music scene today by focusing the spotlight on many current jazz icons, including Terence Blanchard, Ravi Coltrane, Robert Glasper, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Esperanza Spalding, Medeski Martin and Wood and more. FUNDRAISER

The Community Action Network will hold their 25th Anniversary and Volunteer Recognition Event" at the Cobblestone Farm Center on Wednesday. 6-8:30 p.m. This Cajun-themed fundraising dinner and dance will celebrate the many successful years of CAN and its loyal partners and volunteers. Profits from ticket purchases will sustain the programs CAN provides at no cost to residents. $75.
