Exhibit focuses on homelessness; benefit to aid shelter groups

A photo exhibit highlighting the issue of homelessness gets a special focus on Saturday with a benefit reception.

The exhibit "Daily Bread" is currently on display at the Shankwiler 123 Gallery in Ypsilanti. The exhibit includes photos by Lad Strayer and prose poems by Jennifer Burd.

A fundraising reception is set for 5-7 p.m. Sept. 12 at the gallery to benefit the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County and the Daily Bread of Lenawee County. During the event, Strayer and Burd's book "Daily Bread" will be for salle, with all proceeds aiding the associations.  The exhibit continues through Sept. 30 at the gallery, 35 E. Cross St. in Ypsilanti's Depot Town. Hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday, noon-5 p.m. Information: 734-487-9150.
