Fashion's Night Out is an unprecedented global initiative started in 2009 by American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the City of New York to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, boost the industry's economy, and put the fun back in shopping. Since then the event has gone global, expanding to over 100 cities across the U.S. and globally into 15 countries.
Briarwood Mall Fashion’s Night Out attendees can snag swag bags and prize giveaways, indulge in fashion, beauty and makeover treatments, sample food and drinks and watch fashion shows highlighting fall’s hottest trends. Models from John Robert Powers will showcase looks from Macy’s, Aeropostale, Coldwater Creek, Eddie Bauer, Francesca's Collections, GAP, White House Black Market, Ann Taylor and more. Hoda Salameh, fashion editor for Styleline Magazine, will serve as the emcee.
Fashion’s Night Out celebrates more than just apparel and accessories; Briarwood Mall guests can also check out fashionable cakes! Zingerman's Bakehouse will host a Fashion Cake Decorating Contest. Shoppers can vote for their favorite cake, with the winner receiving a cake decorating class seminar, “BAKE-cation!”, valued at $500. All of the cakes will then be auctioned off with proceeds benefitting the Simon Youth Foundation, a nonprofit that gives at-risk students the same education they would receive in a traditional classroom while offering the flexibility that their individual circumstances require.
Women Making Connections will also sponsor a charity auction table where attendees can bid on prizes such as a flight over Ann Arbor from Solo Aviation. Participating charities include: Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary, Hospice of Michigan, Simon Youth Foundation, The Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living, United Way: Power of the Purse, Women Heart and the Women's Center of South East Michigan.
“Briarwood Mall is all about providing a superior shopping experience and offering consumers the very latest in trends,” said Denise Murray, director of marketing and business development. “But we also realize that there’s more to life than fashion. We’re excited to host an event that celebrates fashion and pampers guests while also supporting the wonderful Simon Youth Foundation and other essential community organizations. Fashion’s Night Out is a fun event everyone will benefit from.”
Women can also get an early start on the evening and network at the Women Making Connections conference prior to the Fashion's Night Out. The event will take place from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. in the Macy's Court. Topics will include: “The Wisdom of "Re-thinking Your Life,” “Becoming a Money-Wise Woman,” Healthy Change is a Family Affair” and “Are You Wired for Success?” Fashion’s Night Out is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.
Goodie bags will be passed out to the first 300 guests starting at 6 pm. For information on modeling, entering the Zingerman’s Cake Decorating Contest and more, please visit Facebook.com/briarwoodmall .
