FestiFools takes over downtown Ann Arbor with fun and foolishness

FestiFools, the annual parade celebrating spring and all things foolish, returned to Ann Arbor's Main Street on Sunday, drawing a large, appreciative crowd. Chris Asadian produced this video:

FestiFools is a non-profit production of the START Project, a University of Michigan Lloyd Hall Scholars Program initiative. FestiFools brings students and community volunteers together to create unique public art that is free and accessible to everyone.

Awesome job Mark and thank you to all of the folks who volunteered and helped to bring this event to our streets. Thank you and best wishes for an even bigger foolish day in 2013.

I think it is confined to too small of an area. It is difficult for the little kids to get close enough to comfortably see everything and to interact. Same with the FoolsMoon. Too confining! Keep the street open so that the viewers can see as the event goes by the crowd! I think the event is wonderful and unique.

How sad that this is what we've been reduced to-- as a town, sure, but not just as a town. This event is a too-apt symbol for the younger generations (myself included) generally: lots of extremely safe, carefully planned, self-consciously innocent "fun," nicely confined to a two block radius. This is our idea of a wild and crazy parade? Contra Grant, can anyone say they saw anything actually weird or shocking? Nostalgia, even the nonspecific sort, isn't freedom.

is it wrong that i was flashing everyone even though there weren't any beaded necklaces in sight?

@Rusty--I love this parade. Fun and colorful and engaging. Sure, you don't smoke pot at it, but it's a lot more fun and crazy than traditional parades. Try to have as much fun at the South Lyon Memorial Day parade as a comparison. I'll take our A2 event any time!

The kids diggit, it is fun. Rather than too-apt I think the event is perfectly apt!

I can't hear the word "fool" without hearing RJD sing it in my head.

Wow, the only comment is a Black Sabbath/Dio quote. That's hysterical! :)
