'Five Year Engagement' set to resume local filming Monday
Emily Blunt and Jason Segel's "Five Year Engagement" will resume filming in the Ann Arbor area on April 25.
Though the production team for “Five Year Engagement” — a feature film starring Jason Segel and Emily Blunt (and produced by Judd Apatow) — was originally, reportedly scheduled to return to Ann Arbor in June, BeforeTheTrailer.com recently noted that the “Engagement” team now plans to be back at work beginning April 25.
The source for BeyondTheTrailer.com’s information is Real Style, a Clawson-based casting agency that posted a notice about a fitting on April 18, and filming re-starting on April 25. (AnnArbor.com previously reported that "snow scenes" for the film were shot in Ann Arbor on March 2, in Ingalls Mall and Liberty Park Plaza, among other locations.)
Kay Seaser, the film liaison for the Ann Arbor Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, confirmed the revised start date (April 25) via e-mail. Specific shooting locations have not been announced.
In other “Engagement” news, HollywoodReporter.com recently announced that former “Daily Show” correspondent Lauren Weedman will be part of the cast, along with Alison Brie (previously in the area to film “Scream 4”), Chris Pratt, and Rhys Ifans.
Weedman will reportedly play Segel’s “hard-nosed” boss — a restaurant chef — while the primary focus of the movie is the romantic relationship between Segel and Blunt, who go through various ups and downs over the course of a five year engagement.
Nicholas Stoller, who directed Segel’s hit “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” will direct “Engagement,” and co-wrote its screenplay with Segel.
