Velvet Hammer Day 2013. Noon. Corner Brewery, 720 Norris St., Ypsilanti. The event combines specialty sour beers and a night of burlesque for a one-of-a-kind event. Each year, Corner Brewery taps a new vintage of the Velvet Hammer, one of the sour beers that launched the Arbor Brewing Co. brand into the world of sour. The Velvet Hammer is produced by aging the Phat Abbot Belgian Dubbel in specially inoculated oak barrels with the perfect blend of beneficial bacteria to create a unique flavor profile. Along with Velvet Hammer, several other sour beers will be available. As day turns to night tarot card readers, artisans and local burlesque dancers fill the brewpub for an evening of well-mannered frivolity. Live Tshirt making, magic and fire spinners give way to a 13-act burlesque show featuring local actors and performers. Appearances and performances are expected from the Ann Arbor Derby Dimes, a local roller derby team, and the Ann Arbor Aviary. No cover; price of purchases. krista@cornerbrewery.com.
