Food for Life 4-Class Series. 6-8 p.m. Ann Arbor Whole Foods, 3135 Washtenaw Ave., Ann Arbor, Cooking and Lifestyles Classroom Cooking for a healthier life can be delicious. Learn great recipes and taste a meals worth of food. Instructor: Jan Kemp. 7/29 - Discovering Dairy and Meat Alternatives. 8/5 - Cancer Fighting Compounds and Healthy Weight Control. $60 for this four-class series. Fly Kids Gala Wine Tasting Fundraiser. 7-10 p.m. Private home, 1722 Cambridge, Ann Arbor. A wine tasting and garden party event, hosted by Morgan & York, will benefit Fly Children’s Art Center. $60. Preserving Tradtions: Learn to Can Tomatoes. 2-5 p.m. Pittsfield Grange, 3337 Ann Arbor-Saline Road, Ann Arbor. Learn the basics of what foods may be canned, and how. Bring about three pounds (two dry quarts) of ripe tomatoes and a quart-sized canning jar with band and a new lid, and take home a quart of home-canned tomatoes!
