'Blimpy Burger is one of those places that makes you feel nostalgic for things you didn't even experience'

By Jessica Webster

Sandwich lovers will delight in a charming blog, run by a pool of traveling sports writers, that celebrates road food with a focus on sandwiches. Or, as they describe it: "We're sportswriters by trade, sandwich writers by passion." Sports metaphors abound, and the authors have a particular affinity for everything meat. It's a pretty entertaining read, if you like that sort of thing.

During a recent visit to Ann Arbor, one of the blog writers visited Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger and partook of a triple with egg, bacon and blue cheese on a Kaiser roll.

"It was just the right amount of food, was greasy as a sports agent and landed with a healthy thud at the bottom of my stomach."

The writer also stopped by The Jolly Pumpkin, noting that brewpubs are his favorite "restaurant genre" and that the Pumpkin is "the most exciting brewpub I’ve ever encountered." A loving description of the porchetta sandwich follows, noting that even the presence of much-hated ciabatta couldn't dim the brilliance of the meal.

"The pork on this sandwich was smooth as butter and softer than a European power forward ... This pork sandwich possessed the basic qualities that make something cool. This sandwich was Tom Brady."
