The president of Ann Arbor-based Mainstreet Ventures Inc. will take over as chairman of the board for the National Restaurant Association starting next month.

Mike Gibbons will hold the seat from mid-September through December 2010, according to a statement from Mainstreet. He'll be inducted during a ceremony to be held in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 13.

Gibbons previously served as treasurer and vice chairman for the restaurant group.

The National Restaurant Association represents nearly one million restaurants and food service groups. Mainstreet Ventures operates such local eateries as The Real Seafood Co., Palio, The Chop House, Gratzi and Carson’s American Bistro.
