For craft beer lovers, it's a zenith, a pinnacle, summit, apex (why, yes! I can use thesaurus.com!!) of beer. It's like you've spent the whole year drinking, brewing, drinking and then--it's here!! I am speaking of the Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Beer Festival, which takes place at Riverside Park today (5p-9p) and tomorrow (1p-6p).

Organizers expect over 8,000 people today and tomorrow. These lucky folks will get to sample over 300 beers from over 50 Michigan breweries. I have not heard if the tickets have sold out (if you know, please leave a comment in the comments section), so you might still be able to go! The cost is $25 for tonight and $30 ($35 at the gate) for Saturday. When you walk in, you will get a bag of magic tokens (as my previous post describes)

If you need more than MICHIGAN BEER as an incentive to go, please consider that these are locally owned breweries. There is really no better way to support our economy as we struggle through the Depression 2.0 Recession. Also, my pals from the Craft Beer Locator website will be Twittering (tweeting?) live from the festival.

And if, for some ungodly reason, you need MORE incentive--check out the beer list, friends!! Holy (Sacred) Cow (IPA)!!!! Where else will you get Cherry Poppin' Danny's Sour Cherry Trippel, Apple Strudel Trippel, Smells Like Weed IPA, Creme Brulee Java Stout, Pooh Bear Honey Porter....? Pooh Bear Honey Porter!!! It's the 1000 (or whatever) Acre Woods on beer! Christopher Robin smiling as he sips from a growler! Rabbit and Tigger kickin' back and chillin'! Roo and Piglet--

Okay, I'll stop. But the point is that there will be some awesome, unique and yummy local beers there. Hope to see you there!
