New Master Sommelier at Plum Market; Oprah loves Zzang bars

By Jessica Webster

Wine retail changes: Ann Arbor's Plum Market just scored a hiring coup with Master Sommelier Madeline Triffon. The first woman in America to be certified as a master sommelier, Madeline Triffon will be joining the staff at Plum in September. She was previously the Director of Wine and Beverages for the Unique Restaurant Corporation in Detroit.

In other wine news, The Produce Station recently added Jorge Lopez-Chavez to their staff. Previously the wine expert at Village Corner, Jorge Lopez-Chavez is now the wine director at the Produce Station. You can follow him on Twitter or read his wine blog.

If Oprah likes it, it's got to be good. Entertainment magnate Oprah Winfrey lists Zingerman's Zzang bars as one of her favorite things in the September issue of O Magazine.

Listed alongside items like Jolly Llama's Sorbet Sqeezeups and a patio heater that looks like a table lamp, the magazine describes Zzang bars as “chewy, crunchy, sweet, salty and highly addictive — this luscious handmade candy bar puts the vending machine stuff to shame.”

Zzang bars were also featured on the Food Network's "Kid In A Candy Store" in May.
