Ann Arbor's Pilar's Tamales holds party in Ypsilanti to benefit Haiti

By Corinna Borden

I know where I will be Friday night. I hope you will be at the First Methodist Church in Ypsilanti from 6-9 as well.

Pilar's Tamales and a large group of concerned individuals are putting on a benefit to support Partners in Health, a group that has offered healthcare in Haiti for the past 20 years, and that needs our help now.

There will be a live band and a large selection of items in a silent auction. Pilar's will be offering El Salvadorean specialities and have designed a Haitian tamale in honor of the event.

Great food, fun music, and great company for a great cause - perfection!

Tickets for the Friday evening festivities are on sale at Pilar's Tamale Shop, 2261 West Liberty. Suggested donation is $15 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

If you cannot swing by the shop before Friday, call them at 734-929-4161 and they will hold some tickets for you at the door of the church!

Thanks for the info! I'll stop by Pilar's tomorrow--been meaning to check out the new location. The few Haitian dishes I've tried in the past have been delicious. Wonderful of Pilar's to lend support. Peggy
