Sabor Latino offers alcohol; Mighty Good Coffee on the move
Here's a roundup of some local food news:
Sabor Latino has its liquor license: Janet Miller reported last month that the owners of Sabor Latino were waiting for state approval on a liquor license they acquired from the Firefly Club, which closed last year. Yesterday, the restaurant tweeted: "Sabor Latino is serving beer! Starting tonight - get Corona, Tecate, Sol, XX Amber, XX Lager, Carta Blanca and Bohemia." The restaurant will just have beer for now, but hopes to begin serving mixed drinks next week, according to Sabor Latino employee José Perez.
Mighty Good Coffee moving, consolidating: We got word this week from Mighty Good Coffee owner David Myers that a move is in the works for both the cafe and his roasting operations. Myers located a spot at 217 N. Main St. that will be able to accommodate both aspects of his business. The upside? More seating for cafe patrons. Myers estimates that he will have space for up to 25 people.
Eat with Mario Batali in Traverse City: The Detroit Free Press reports that superstar chef Mario Batali is serving up dinner for 2,000 in Traverse City on Aug. 14, followed by an interview with Zingerman's co-founder Paul Saginaw. The menu come from recipes taken from Batali's cookbooks. The food will be prepared by local chefs.
