At Project Grow, we see gardens everywhere

Over at Project Grow we see a garden in almost every open, underutilized space around. We can't help it. After nearly 40 years of helping Ann Arbor's gardeners find a place to plant, learn, and grow organically (along with getting a little dirty!) it's a habit we don't intend to break. Gardeners of all ages, skill levels, and sizes come out to plant seeds, weed, and harvest at our fifteen scattered sites around the community.

We share their joy in the first tomato of the season, and the bittersweet satisfaction of cleaning up the beds at the end of the year. Our two Discovery Garden sites offer inspiration, and a variety of classes help gardeners get through the long winter months until the first shoots of rhubarb appear.

Joan Bailey has been writing for the Project Grow blog for over a year now. An organic gardener herself, she finds the topic irresistible, and is grateful for any excuse to think, write or talk about it. Currently living in Japan, Joan continues to write for Project Grow while working on an organic farm there. (She says both of these tasks keep her from getting too homesick.)
