Ann Arbor's Wednesday Farmers Markets open this week
Food lovers eagerly await the arrival of garlic ramps and asparagus as a first sign of spring, but here in Ann Arbor we officially welcome the season when the Wednesday Farmers Markets start back up.

The wait is over. Both the regular daytime and the new evening Wednesday farmers markets are scheduled to begin this week.
The regular Wednesday Farmers Market, with a mix of stands featuring produce, plants, flowers and artisans runs from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Ann Arbor Farmers Market at 315 Detroit St.
New as of last year is the Wednesday Evening Farmers Market, operating from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. In addition to the regular market offerings, shoppers will also find a beverage garden and live music. To celebrate the grand re-opening, the organizers are offering a free $5 token to the first 20 shoppers at the Wednesday Evening Market.

I am sooo excited!!! Now I just have to wait for peach season...they have the best peaches :) I refuse to buy my produce now unless it is not in season. It is cheaper and less chemicals. I like to support local farmer also!

Thanks for this story. I'll be there early tomorrow morning drinking coffee and loving the fact I live in a community which has access to locally produced food all year long and is only blocks from my house. Long live the Ann Arbor Framers market!

What's not to love at the market? Prices are reasonable (except maybe Zingerman's) and they have amble items to choose from. I'd much rather pay a local farmer a bit more for food grown near where I live. I love going every Wednesday...always fun to shop on the way to work.

Well, I hope you get your wish, but meanwhile I'm pretty happy with it. Have you tried the ones in Saline or Ypsi?

I'm still waiting for an actual farmer's market in A2, with affordable produce, not a "boutique" farmer's market with sky high prices and too many non-produce craft and food items. Too much price fixing between vendors, some surly vendors, and too much produce grown in green houses.
