Alton Brown to feature Zingerman's Roadhouse on new show; Zagat survey names best fast food hamburger

By Jessica Webster

Food Network star Alton Brown was spotted filming at Zingerman's Roadhouse. Zingerman's marketing manager Pete Sickman-Garner has the scoop: "I can confirm that Alton Brown did come to the Roadhouse to shoot an episode of America's Best (In this case, America's Best Comfort Foods) and we're expecting it to air on Sept. 20."

Time: Zagat: America's Favorite Fast-Food Burger is...Five Guys? Zagat recently released its fast food survey results, and Five Guys Burgers and Fries has topped the list of favorite fast food hamburgers, replacing last year's winner In-N-Out Burger.

The win can be attributed to the proliferation of higher-quality fast food burger chains, according to Time writer Nate Jones:

"However, most of these franchises are regional: In-N-Out on the West Coast, Steak 'n Shake in the Midwest, Shake Shack in New York City. Five Guys, however, is all over the U.S. Thus, when you do a nationwide survey of 'Best Fast Food Burger,' people are going to vote for the only 'upper-middle-class' burger (can we call them BoBo Burgers?) in their town. Consumers don't know how good they don't have it."

Ann Arborites will have the opportunity to taste-test Five Guys burgers when it opens its State Street location this fall.

Chicago Tribune: 10 worst restaurant names in the country. The Dead Fish? Blunch? Crapittos? All of these are actual restaurant names, and all of them are on the Chicago Tribune's list of the worst restaurant names in America.

Of the oddly named Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, the Tribune explains:

"Ruth Fertel purchased a New Orleans restaurant, Chris Steak House. The contract stipulated that she couldn't move it and keep the name. When the original burned down, she moved four blocks away and slapped her own name — awkwardly, a spokeswoman admits — on an already lousy name."
