Opera and beer may not be a typical combination, but the apparent dissonance between them is the driving force behind "Opera on Tap," happening on Tuesday, December 15 at 8:30 p.m., at Frenchie's (at the Sidetrack Bar and Grill), 56 East Cross Street in Ypsilanti's Depot Town. The program is titled "Christmas, Christmas."

The event offers live opera singing in a relaxed, casual setting. OOT's mission is to bring opera and classical music out of the concert hall and into alternative venues; to give young singers the opportunity to perform; and to promote the music of contemporary classical and operatic composers. OOT started life in New York, and there is now an Ann Arbor/Ypsi chapter up and running.

For more info, visit the new local chapter's page on the OOT site.
