FutureStars!!!!
Well, times at Pioneer Theatre Guild have been nothing less than hectic this past week or so. FutureStars, our annual talent competition, opened last night with our two themes "Disney Goes Pop" and "On My iPod II". They were both received with very loud and energetic audiences, which is always a great comfort when our performers are shaking in their boots backstage hearing their name being introuced.
FutureStars is our annual winter talent competition that has recently been opened to district- wide students. It consists of four preliminary shows, which are happening this weekend. Our "early" shows ( 7 pm) are the family- oriented shows. The "late" shows (9:30) are opened to students only. This year, the days leading up to FutureStars were chaotic yet wonderful. As we currently have three shows being produced simultaneously, we are finding ourselves running up until two seconds before the show opens. Somehow, we managed to pull it off. As the district- wide aspect of FS is starting to kick in, we have a phenomenal variety of performers on stage this year. From break dancin groups, to rappers, to ballerinas, to bands, FutureStars is seeing Ann Arbor talent like it has never seen it before. Don't miss your chance to be a part of this spectacle!
Saturday Night's (1/9) Shows: 7 pm (family) show- "Mostly Michael"- Hear songs from the King himself, along with some other influencial artists of his time. 9:30 pm (Student- only)' "Uh-Oh 2000's"- Jam out to all the popular songs of today, with our own spins of course.
All tickets are $5. All performances in Schreiber Auditorium at Pioneer High School.
Our finals competition will take place next Saturday, January 16th, at 7:30 pm. The top 3 finalists from each show will compete for the title of "FutureStar 2010," along with some wildcard acts. Tickets for the finals are $9 for students, seniors, and PHS staff, and $12 for adults. We will be joined by guest celebrity judges, the current "stars" judging the future stars. One of these judges is Lucy Ann Lance, from the Lucy Ann Lance Radio Show. She will be conducting an interview with two Theatre Guild members, Maia Gleason and John Spalding, today (Saturday) at 11:40 am on 1290 Am WLBY. Tune in to hear more about Future Stars and Theatre Guild in general!!

It's nice to see young people involved in a cohesive, high energy, delightful performance.
