Get inspired at the Remodelers Home Tour and at the Harvest of the Arts Oktoberfest this weekend

HOMES

This weekend is the "23rd Annual Remodelers Home Tour" in the Ann Arbor Area. Friday, 3-7 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, noon-6 p.m. Get inspired! Whole-house remodels, additions, kitchens, basements, decks and energy-efficiency improvements are among the projects presented by some of the areas most acclaimed remodelers this year. Tickets are $10 per adult; ages 16 and under are free. Tickets will be available at each home and are valid for all homes on the tour. FESTIVAL

The Annual Harvest of the Arts Oktoberfest brings fall fun to downtown Saline. Friday, 5-11 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The Oktoberfest Bier Garten opens the festival on Friday with plenty of German food, fun and, of course, beer and wine. Saturday will feature juried fine arts booths, live music, the Saline Firefighters Association Chili Challenge (11 a.m.- 1 p.m.) and more. Free admission; food for sale. Ann Arbor Street and Michigan Avenue, Saline.

OUTDOORS

On Saturday, you can "Run for the Arb." 9 a.m. This is a 5K family run through the Nichols Arboretum trails. Run for the Arb is a fundraiser to benefit the University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens & Nichols Arboretum. Even dogs are invited (for $5 more, and dogs must be on a leash). $25. The race begins at the Urban Environmental Education Center at the Arb’s 1610 Washington Hts. entrance. Today is also the Festi-Fall celebration at the Arb (10 a.m.-noon. $8 per child includes activities and materials.)

SPORTS

Don't miss the "Ann Arbor Roller Derby Bouts" at Buhr Park on Saturday. Doors open at 5 p.m., first bout starts at 5:30 p.m. It's a Roller Derby Double Header featuring The Lansing Mitten Mavens vs. The Ann Arbor Brawlstars and a home team bout between Ann Arbor's Tree Town Thrashers and Huron River Rollers. Suggested donation of $12. 2751 Packard Road, Ann Arbor.

FOOD

Help the March of Dimes at the "Harvest Fest Beer & Wine Tasting" at Roger Monk's on Saturday. 1-4 p.m. There will also be a silent auction, 50/50 raffle and door prizes. $40 per person for 12 3 oz. pours and appetizers. 5400 Plymouth Road, Ann Arbor. 734-239-3639.

FESTIVAL

It's time again for the "Annual OUTFest" in the Kerrytown District of Ann Arbor on Saturday. 5 p.m.-midnight. Celebrate "National Coming Out Day" with music, dancing, entertainers, food, a beer tent, speakers, representatives of political campaigns, a children's play area, raffles and a Necto-sponsored Dance Pavilion with DJ Mark Johnson. Free and open to the public, though a small fee is necessary for the beer tent. 327 Braun Court, Ann Arbor (across from the Farmers Market).

There is live music Friday night as well at the Saline Oktoberfest, with the Drivin' Sideways band.
