Happening Today: Jill Sobule returns, choreographer Wayne McGregor speaks

The Washtenaw Community Concert Band will present "American Fantasies" at Towsley Auditorium on the Washtenaw Community College campus on Thursday evening.

LECTURE

The Penny Stamps Lecture Series will host Random International/Wayne McGregor at the Michigan Theater on Thursday. 5:10 p.m. McGregor, a dancer, has gone outside the field of "pure" dance to choreograph movement for movies, plays, musicals and art galleries, including "Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire." Singer/songwriter Jill Sobule will perform at the Ark. 8 p.m. The woman who kissed a girl and liked it long before Katy Perry will return with her deeply personal, socially conscious, seriously funny and derisively tragic songs. $15.
