Beginning April 27, the Huron Players (of Huron High School) will present "Fools," a play by Neil Simon, directed by Pam Cardell.

In the play, Leon Tolchinsky, a young school teacher, realizes his new home has been cursed with chronic stupidity and has 24 hours to break the curse and save his love.

Having landed a terrific teaching job in an idyllic Russian hamlet, Leon arrives to find the townspeople doing things like sweeping dust from the stoops back into their houses, and milking cows while upside down to get more cream. The town has been cursed with chronic stupidity for 200 years, and Leon's job is to break the curse. No one tells him that if he stays over 24 hours and fails to break the curse, he too becomes stupid. But, he has fallen in love with a girl so stupid that she has only recently learned how to sit down.

Showtimes are April 27-28 and May 4-5 at 7:30 p.m., at Huron High School's New Theatre, 2727 Fuller Rd. Tickets go on sale 45 minutes prior to each performance. Advance reservations can be made by calling 734-994-2095; tickets cost $8 ($6 students/seniors/staff).
