Images from FoolMoon in downtown Ann Arbor

By Angela Cesere

FoolMoon, a new event in downtown Ann Arbor, took over Washington Street west of Main with a gathering of handmade luminaries Friday night.

Photographer Angela Cesere captured these images:

FoolMoon is an expansion of the FestiFools parade of giant puppets, which returns to downtown 4-5 p.m. on Sunday.

We had a wonderful fun time, though I too would have preferred something other than a beer tent at the end, and a little more room to be able to see everyone else's luminaries. The "three strands of paraders converging" format is lovely from above, but mean participants get to see only their section of the parade unless they can circulate at the end point. I hope the FestiFool organizers do this again, and perhaps have the end point at the Diag or a large open park where there is both more room and fewer businesses to be disrupted.

At least it's appropriately named... ! This wretched blog is way, WAAAAY, too sensitive to criticism. "All the News that Fits" (with their agenda, that is.), to paraphrase the NY Times banner.

This being the best A2 event ever. It was a perfectly magical evening. @eric, comparing an event to public art work is just silly. They are completely different with different experiences.

It was a blast. What a great idea. I only wish it had extended an extra block and had more besides beer. BTW, it looked as Frita Batidos was packed, and there was line at 10 am at Espresso Royale. Great way to people downtown.

FoolMoon was the best event I have been to in Ann Arbor. Ann Arbor may still have a soul. Radical participation! Say no the beer tent next time. have it away from businesses. In a park perhaps. Commerce free for 2012! The people make the event. What a wonderful display to be part of. Thank you to all who participated. How silly to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a public sculpture when events like this are so much better for the people.

I thought Foolmoon was a great event! It was awesome to see so many people out and having a good time on what would otherwise be a chilly night in early April. Here are some of my pics of the event: http://www.damnarbor.com/2011/04/foolmoon-life-aquatic.html

Total blast! It was nice to be outside in the beer tent, despite the chilly temperatures :) I also loved it when the fish with moving lips came up and "drank" my beer luminary! That is a sentence that has never been typed before.
