Images from Quidditch at the Ypsilanti District Library Whittaker branch

By Angela Cesere

Ypsilanti District Library Whittaker branch hosted a game of Quidditch to celebrate today's opening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in theaters. Quidditch is a game in the Harry Potter universe played on flying brooms. Kids at the library played a modified version of this, balancing a paper origami Golden Snitch on a spoon while trying to cross a court to earn a points while opposing teams threw balloons at them to knock the snitch off the spoon.

Photographer Angela Cesere captured images from the event:

Hats off to Amelia Yunker! She came up with that idea and many other great ideas and programs for the Ypsilanti District Library on Whittaker. Everyone should go check them out!

Seems to me this is a 'Cool' way to entertain, create an interest (hopefully) in READING the Harry Potter books. Besides learning fine motor control and the ability of balloons to not go where you want them to. Hats off to the Librarians.
