Jeff Daniels in "The Newsroom"

Chelsea's resident movie star, Jeff Daniels, has been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for his work on Aaron Sorkin's HBO drama, "The Newsroom." Nominations were announced Wednesday.

In the show, Daniels plays force-of-nature anchorman Will McAvoy, who, after years of coyly evading questions about his own perspectives, goes on a blistering rant during a college campus panel discussion. After this, he finds his newsroom empty and must build a new team from the ground up, and work for the producer who'd previously broken his heart.

Daniels' heavy-hitting competitors for SAG's lead actor in a drama category are: Steve Buscemi for “Boardwalk Empire,” Bryan Cranston for “Breaking Bad,” Jon Hamm for “Mad Men” and Damien Lewis for “Homeland.”

The 19th Screen Actors Guild Awards will air on TNT and TBS on Jan. 27 from the Shrine Auditorium & Exposition Center in Los Angeles.

The only thing I hate about that show is that it ISN'T REAL. We need a show like this! And I am so glad it's out there. Will McAvoy for Michigan Governor!

Jeff, if you feel like changing fields in the next few years, we sure could use a new Governor.
