Michigan Theater offers free admission to U.S. military veterans on Thursday, November 11

By AnnArbor.com Staff

To recognize the contributions to our country by members of the U.S. military, the Michigan Theater - on Veterans Day this Thursday, November 11 - will admit military veterans and active personnel free to all regular film screenings.

In addition, veterans are eligible for a discount admission price of $7 per ticket all year round.

Movies that day include "The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" at 7:45 p.m. and "Waiting for Superman" at 9:45 pm.

"The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" is the final installment of Stieg Larsson’s amazingly popular “Millennium Trilogy.” Protagonist Lisbeth Salander must prove her innocence and identify the government institutions that have conspired against her. Swedish with subtitles. 148 minutes. Rated R.

"Waiting for Superman" won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Director Davis Guggenheim ("An Inconvenient Truth") examines the failure of public schools in America and examines the options to reverse the course. 102 minutes. Rated PG.

This program is made possible by a generous grant from the Merton & Regina Allen Memorial Fund. The primary purpose of the fund, established through the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, is “to support programming, events and special initiatives for United Sates Armed Forces veterans, with preference to disabled veterans and those who served in action, at the Michigan Theater (a Code Section 501(c)(3) organization).”

Please visit the Michigan Theater website for a complete schedule with show times.
