Shephard145 should not be making comments about the Detroit sports scene when they display their ignoranace on the topic by saying to avoid the Lions who have the longest regular season winning streak in the NFC and many people are picking to win their division if there is a football season. They should have been saying to avoid the Pistons at this point.

Oh, and for nails, ignore the big box stores. Stadium Hardware all the way.

Off the beaten path with Rodney.... The remodeled Kroger on Plymouth is a nice hangout for coffee and a donut. The Chinese buffet in Westgate mall is always solid and they have sushi. Porky's Pizza. Try the BBQ beans, too! Tour the photographs at UM Hospital. Go sledding on grass at Vet's Park. I could go on and on.

Mindy, some LA talent have been surprised by the great lakes – see Grand Haven and South Haven for that. The wind kicks up waves from the west - it's like the ocean without the salt. Find time to head up north to climb the dunes (don't see you doing that but don't know you) and fun resort-boating towns. Check out the area small towns like Northville and Dexter. If you like historical exhibits and IMAX, there's The Henry Ford in Dearborn. Shopping wise, Ann Arbor is average, then grand suburban mall Novi Twelve Oaks. The biggest and best mall in Michigan is Somerset in Troy. If you want to drop some real bucks shopping, check out the City of Birmingham and for fun, the little town of Franklin. Ann Arbor has lots of great restaurants but Detroit has a few as well. If you attend sporting events without your attorney, see the Pistons in Auburn Hills and the Tigers in Detroit. Avoid the Lions at all cost. If someone offers you tickets, run the other way. If you want weird, go to Bronners for 365 day a year Christmas or Frankenmuth for a town built around boasted chicken. If you're here in July, check out the Ann Arbor Art Fair. Otherwise it's like any suburban city in American with all the same stuff.
