MTV's 'The Real World' casting in Ann Arbor on Saturday

By Bob Needham

The granddaddy of reality television, MTV's "The Real World," will hold an open casting call in Ann Arbor on Saturday.

Casting representatives from MTV's longest-running series will be at Scorekeepers Sports Grill and Pub, 310 Maynard, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. this Saturday, March 12.

Applicants must be between ages 18 and 24, and must bring a photo ID and a recent photo to submit to the casting company.

The premise of "The Real World" is to put a group of young adults in a house together and film the results. Casting calls are routinely held at various locations around the country, and there's no guarantee anyone local will be chosen for the show.

It's all about sex and alcohol now. Does anyone remember when they used to have jobs and do volunteer work. I think the last time I saw that on the show they were in New Orleans.

Even that other "reality" show Big Brother allowed guests of a variety of ages on for diversity. Sounds to me like they're looking to battle "Jersey Shore" (of which I was able to stomach about 5 minutes of) for ratings. I certainly won't tune in to see!

"Applicants must be between ages 18 and 24" Distgusting! I claim illegal age discrimination!! Is there a lawyer in the house?

American Idol is the same way. 18 to age 25. Sucks doesn't it to be a minority and considered old. I never heard of this and I guess I am old fashioned.
