There are plenty of musical options today
MUSIC
Support a great local venue at "The Ark's Fall Fundraiser," featuring The Carolina Chocolate Drops. 7:30 p.m. The Carolina Chocolate Drops have proved that the old-time, fiddle and banjo-based music they’d so scrupulously researched and passionately performed could be a living, breathing, ever-evolving sound. Tickets start at $50 and go up to $500; to check on availability, call The Ark’s business office at 734-761-1800.
MUSIC
The Michigan Pops Orchestra will present "Pops Takes Flight!" at the Michigan Theater. 7-8 p.m. Prepare for a flight-filled journey as Pops takes you through the skies. From the likes of "Star Trek" to "Up," "Firebird," "Superman," "Defying Gravity" and more. $5 for students, $8 for adults and free for students K-12. Tickets sold at TicketMaster.com and at the door. 603 E. Liberty St., Ann Arbor. 734-668-8397.
THEATER
Today is your last chance to see "Bat Boy: The Musical" at the Arthur Miller Theatre in the U-M Walgreen Drama Center. 2 p.m. Based on a Weekly World News article, the musical contains perfectly normal songs such as “Another Dead Cow” and “Apology To A Cow.” But really, it's a play about acceptance and racism. General admission is $26; $10 with student ID. 1226 Murfin Ave., Ann Arbor. 734-764-2538.
THEATER
But if you would like to know what you're getting into while also getting some serious subtext disguised by jaunty musical numbers, this is also the last day to see the Ann Arbor Civic Theatre's production of "Legally Blonde" at the Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre. 2 p.m. It's like the movie, but with more choreography. $25. $22 for seniors and $13 for students. In the Michigan League at 911 N. University Ave., Ann Arbor. 734-763-3333.
BOOKS
Today is also the last day of the Jewish Book Festival at the Jewish Community Center. Noon. Enjoy bagels and lox. The author presentation is free and open to the community. See David Javerbaum, author of "The Last Testament." $10 in advance or $15 at the door. 2935 Birch Hollow Drive, Ann Arbor. 734-971-0990.
