MUSKET, the University of Michigan student-run musical theater company, will present a production of the hit musical "Hairspray" on Friday and Saturday, November 16 and 17, at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, November 18 at 2 p.m., at the Power Center. Tickets are $13 ($7 for students) and available at the Michigan League Ticket Office, 734-764-2538.

Set in the 1960's, Hairspray follows the story of Tracy Turnblad, a hopeful girl from Baltimore who is determined to dance on "The Corny Collins Show." Once her dream becomes a reality, Tracy realizes she not only wants to dance, but use her new-found celebrity to change and integrate the show as well. As a result of her courage and determination, she quickly sparks a movement to speak out against the racial injustices of her time. This energetic, soulful, and heartfelt musical includes the hits "You Can't Stop the Beat," "Without Love," and "Good Morning Baltimore."

Cast members were recently out on the Diag to promote the show. Here's a minute from the number, "Run and Tell That."
