Grizzly Peak and Blue Tractor to co-host Oktoberfest
A $5 cover that in part benefits U-M's Comprehensive Cancer Center gets admission to the event, which offers live music by a polka band, plus featured beer and traditional food.
On tap at the bar, Grizzly Peak pours Oktoberfest Lager and Grizzly Peak Ale, while Blue Tractor serves up Sudworth Bock and their own Oktoberfest Lager.
Meanwhile, the menu features bratwurst with Porter sauerkraut, mustard-glazed chicken breast on a kaiser roll, grilled vegetable skewers with caraway vinaigrette and roasted potato salad.
West Washington Street between Main and Ashley will be blocked off for the event.
For more information, contact Grizzly Peak at 734-741-7325 or Blue Tractor at 734-222-4095.

This doesn't mention the Arbor Brewing event because one of our contributors was covering it (see the aforementioned entry by David Bardallis), plus I wanted to emphasize the Grizzly Peak/Blue Tractor event because it's in part a fundraiser. If you work for Arbor Brewing, please email your event details to calendar@annarbor.com so they can be added to our listings, and email me (chrystacherrie@annarbor.com) your press releases for consideration for posts in the Entertainment section. Thanks!

I'm not sure why the story doesn't mention that Arbor Brewing (yes I work there) is also having its 10th annual Oktoberfest outside on Washington Street (on the other side of Main) on the same days. 5 pm - 11 pm Friday (9/18) & Saturday (9/19) with NO COVER to get in. Arbor beer, food, and the German band Spass both nights. A portion of the proceeds every year benefit the Ann Arbor Jaycees. I hope that for most people our annual street party captures the spirit of Oktoberfest, which for us involves enjoying beer, food and music outside in the fresh fall air with friends! (And yes, we'll have the orange snow fencing, as it's the only legal way we can prevent people from illegally drinking on the sidewalks...)

Hey John, I haven't heard of anything special happening at the Heidelberg for Oktoberfest, but as I'm sure you know, their boot o' beer doesn't discriminate by date. Our beer guru, David Bardallis, has a recent post about more Oktoberfest-y events happening this week/weekend, too.

Heidelberg needs to get in on the action. Any idea if there will be a beer boot?

hey treetowncartel- you don't happen to work at Metzger's do you?! just a bit suspect, it sounds like a plug(commenting on the address). I will try to make it to both Arbors and Grizzly/Blue Tractors Oktoberfest. It does sound like a street party, that's kind of the point!! That doesn't mean it won't be in the spirit of Oktoberfest though. I actually heard that they will have a German band on Saturday too. It amazes me how negative some people are on even the most mundane stories!

Where is the spatzen? Not much in the way of German heritage or fare, just a chance to have a street party is all this is. Any normal night at Metzger's out on Zeeb Road is closer in tradition than this event.

Here's hoping that it captures more of the spirit of Oktoberfest. In years past it was pretty bleak, consisting of tables surrounded by orange snow fence and standing in line to buy coupons so that you could stand in line to get a beer. Maybe the $5 cover charge (new this year) gets you table service. The Corner Brewery's garden complete with linden trees and oompah band is an alternative. No table service here (but no coupons either).
