What do fire juggling, a biodiesel school bus and recycled props have in common? They all can be seen at the Zany Umbrella Circus this Sunday at the Leslie Science and Nature Center (1831 Traver Road, Ann Arbor)!

This globe-trotting, world-renowned circus has performed around the country including the White House, receiving rave reviews. They don't use elephants, animals or three rings but instead use fire juggling, slack rope walking, and aerial acrobatics in their one-of-a-kind magical show. The circus is mindful of Mother Earth and our environment by driving a reclaimed school bus they've converted to run on biodiesel, while using found and recycled stage props in their shows.

"I want to tell you a bit more about the Zany Umbrella Circus because they are an incredible group. But they aren’t international for the typical reasons," said Susan Hutton, Development Director at the Leslie Science and Nature Center. "When the U.S. invaded Afghanistan, they went to Afghanistan and worked in Afghani orphanages as performers and teachers. They’ve made similar tours to Jordan and Ethiopia; in fact, the new show they’re bringing to Ann Arbor, A Clown’s Dream, was written for the Queen’s Department of Jordan and has been performed around the globe." These stunning performers are returning to Ann Arbor this Sunday for two performances at 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets are $10/person or $35/family in advance or $12/person or $40/family at the door.

Hutton adds, "They’re outstanding performers, and they’re outstanding people, too. They’re a terrific story on so many levels."

So bring your pop and hop on over to the Zany Umbrella Circus this Father's Day for a fun-filled family adventure under the big top. It's an Ann Arbor family event that should not be missed!
