Gettin' fancy at the Traverwood library
Pink and purple, lace and tulle ruled the day at the Traverwood branch of the Ann Arbor District Library on Wednesday, as library staff hosted a "Fancy Nancy soirée" for the under-7 set.

Around 100 children attended the event — nearly all of them girls, and most were dressed up in their sparkly best. The morning began with Youth Services Librarian Meaghan Battle, outfitted in a feather boa and butterfly wings, reading the original Fancy Nancy book (see video below). Then she led the group in an interactive chant, with one side of the room shouting "Fancy Nancy!" and the other side responding "Ooh la la!"
After a little ballet dancing, the event finished with a craft: decorating tiaras with jewels and sequins.
Moms and daughters alike seemed to enjoy the frivolity. "I like it," Megan Stearns, 6, said of the program. "It's really cool."
