Housecleaning with a Toddler

By Stefan Szumko

So anyway…I’ve been away from the blogosphere for a few weeks now. Three weeks ago, we moved houses - from one side of the street to the other. Plus, my parents moved into our old house last week. It’s tough to make time for blogging when there’s so much to do before winter arrives next week.

Tomorrow, we have our first non-relative houseguest spending the night. So tonight, it was time to finally get around to cleaning the tub which hasn’t been cleaned in years, since the house was vacant. Jameson (age 3) decided to help.

Awesome, Stefan. He told me about it as soon as I got home, and again the next morning. He was begging to the clean the shower again that night. An all around success!

michela- AnnArbor.com is not your traditional newspaper. So, you get stories like the is one that seems to have upset you. And even if it not strictly a "news" story, what's wrong with placing it here? The old AnnArbor News always published such "human interest" stories.

@michela, I've been asked to write about activities and things to do with children at home and around town. While for you, cleaning the tub may be a daily occurence, for us, it's a monumental occasion. The fact that a three-year-old can be occupied for an hour without resorting to electronic stimulation and actually helping with a household chore is appealing to some readers. Additionally, raising a child to make a positive impact on a community, impacting the larger society, begins at home.

This is not news. Why does this belong on a website with news about the city of Ann Arbor?
