The Ann Arbor YMCA is offering several new “twilight” summer camps for kids and teens from 4:30-8:00 p.m. each day. These camps are a great way to round out half-day camps and keep kids engaged in constructive activities, like fishing on Silver Lake, biking, baseball tours and orienteering. Best of all, they’re affordable and convenient - drop-off and pickup for all the camps is at the Ann Arbor YMCA at 400 West Washington Street in downtown Ann Arbor. For details and registration, visit the Y's website.

Twilight Camps include:

Baseball Bonanza (Ages 12-16): Teens see five baseball games in five nights, including the Detroit Tigers (3 games), Toledo Mudhens and Lansing Lugnuts.

Orienteering (Ages 8-12): Campers learn how to use a map and compass to cross unfamiliar terrain around the YMCA’s Camp Birkett, on Silver Lake in Dexter. Activities include capture the flag, treasure hunting and survival scenarios.

Birkett Twilight (Ages 8-12): Campers enjoy the YMCA’s Camp Birkett activities during evening hours, including archery, canoeing, arts and crafts, swimming in Silver Lake, campfires, fishing and group games.

Fishing Camp (Ages 8-12): This week-long camp focuses on the basics of rod and reel fishing in the waters of Silver Lake. Trips to other local fishing holes could include rivers, ponds and a trout farm.

Mountain Biking (Ages 8-12): Campers learn basic mountain biking skills including bike maintenance, riding, and technique. Camp includes field trips to local recreation areas to ride trails and put into practice skills learned. Bikes are provided by the Ann Arbor YMCA.
