Attention Walking Fans!

Join the Washtenaw Wanderers Volkssporting Club for a 6K or 10K Volksmarch (free, family-friendly, non-competive, walking event for all ages and abilities) on Sunday, October 25 at SASHA Farm in Manchester Michigan.

The Wanderers have put in a request for good walking weather. Based on the number of leaves still on the trees today, it looks like there will be some color to be seen, so bring your cameras, a smile, and wear red (to be most photogenic).

Arrive and register between 10am-1pm, finishing by 4pm at SASHA Farm (17901 Mahrle Road, Manchester, MI 48158). Both routes are on rural, dirt roads and will be marked with directional arrows. Water and restrooms are available at the start/finish point.

This event is free. The event award, the 2009 National Volkssport Month Patch costs $5 and includes credit from the American Volkssport Association. Credit only is $3. New Walkers Packets will be available for $5, which include coupons for a free patch and event credit. So if you like to walk and travel to new places, Volkssporting might be of interest to you.

Since it's on dirt roads, strollers and wheelchairs should be heavy-duty. Credit is awarded to participants even if they head to the end of the road and back. But all are encouraged to complete one of the looped routes.

SASHA Farm is a sanctuary for abused, abandoned, and neglected farm animals. Monetary donations to SASHA Farm are encouraged so that Dorothy and Monte can continue their efforts to care for over 200 of these farm animals. Feel free to bring fruits and vegetables to share with the animals.

In consideration for the animals, please ensure that snacks consumed at SASHA farm are meat, egg, and dairy-free (vegan).

For more information, or to pre-register for the event (ensuring that you will recieve 1 of the 25 available patches), contact:
