This Saturday, April 2, Briarwood Mall is hosting a Summer Camp Expo for parents interested in overnight summer camps and Ann Arbor day camp options.

The all day event, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., will take place in center court where parents and children can learn about area summer camp programs for children of all ages including programs from YMCA Camp Copneconic, Gym America, Mystic Lake and Huron Forest Camp CedarRidge.

To entertain the kids further, there will be shows and entertainment throughout the day including Colors the Clown's juggling feats from noon to 3 p.m. and live animal shows at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m.

It is a challenge to find the right summer camp experience; however events like this help to highlight the many great opportunities available to parents that are convenient to the greater Ann Arbor area. There should be summer programs for every child including summer camps for sports, music and theater, horseback riding summer camps, day camps and sleepaway camp, so it is worth checking out!

For added convenience, the Ann Arbor Mom has also put together a comprehensive listing of Ann Arbor day camps for parents who need full child care during the summer months.

For the latest events and activities for families, youth and teens, be sure to check out the Ann Arbor Mom blog - your source for family events, low-cost local activities, and Ann Arbor area freebies for families.

This is a 2011 event post. My blog www.AnnArborMom.com has the information for 2012.

The Briarwood mall posting and their Facebook site both say this event ends at 3:30pm. Can you clarify the hours of the event? Thanks!

Never mind. Just realized this post was from last year!

iD Tech Camps

A local camp fair is a great resource for finding the perfect summer camp. Just to offer additional advice, online summer camp directories and eCamp sites are also great resources for locating a summer camp in a specific geographic location or one that specializes in a particular activity (sports, technology, etc.). To find a good eCamp site, go to Google and search "summer camps Ann Arbor" or even the state name like Michigan. The first few results will probably be eCamp sites that allow you to narrow your search through a number of search capabilities and filters. I actually work for iD Tech Camps where we run summer tech programs across the nation. Kids and teens can learn video game design, iPhone app development, website creation and much more. Specifically in Michigan, we hold camps at the University of Michigan http://www.internaldrive.com/locations/mi-summer-camps-michigan-computer-camps/university-of-michigan-ann-arbor-camp/. Just wanted to pass along the information, but if you have any specific questions feel free to call 1-888-709-TECH (8324) or email info@internalDrive.com. Good luck with your summer camp search!

Thanks Denise, I must have pulled the information off of the press release incorrectly.

Thanks, Tammy! Just a note: Colors the Clown will be here - an Ann Arbor favorite (not Coco the Clown). Also, The Salvation Army will be here with their amazing Red Kettle Bounce House, and will have information on their summer program, too. Please come and join the fun!
