It's the end of the world as we know it, so why not feel fine at the "Annual Family Holiday/Solstice Sing-Along Party" with Kevin Devine to benefit Food Gatherers. At the Wolverine State Brewing Co. on Friday. 6 p.m. Join Kevin when he returns for year three of this rollicking, participatory holiday event. Hear all your favorite seasonal songs with plenty of rhythm instruments for all the kids to play along (and the parents, too!). Free, but please bring non-perishable food to donate to Food Gatherers. 2019 W. Stadium Blvd., Ann Arbor. 734-369-2990.

Black Jake & The Carnies will bring their brand of "crabgrass" to The Ark on Friday. 8 p.m. The band sets fierce murder ballads, dark warnings, and a certain tough rust-belt revivalism to the beat of an old-time string band. This octet offers a unique blend of Americana, bluegrass, and punk. $15. 316 S. Main St., Ann Arbor. 734-761-1800.

But when Mamie the Mermaid gets tangled in Arthur’s fishing line, he must choose his wishes carefully. $10 for adults, $7 for children and $20 for family tickets.
