Performance art raises questions at the Street Art Fair

By Jenn McKee

Here's something Miss Manners never addressed (though maybe she would have if she'd been to the Ann Arbor Art Fairs): what do you do when a performance artist bends to kiss your hand and then freezes in place? Give him a few seconds and pull your hand away? Shyly wait for him to release it?

See how one Street Art Fair patron handles the situation when this performance artist twist on The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit — and gray hat and gray sunglasses and gray gloves and gray makeup — raised the question on Wednesday afternoon.

The performance artist only moved if someone gave him money. Now that's transparency.

There is an error in your title. You used the word "art". I'm not sure what that is, but it's not art. Just like 90% of everything associated with the art fair. I'm glad our merchants are cashing in, but this art fair thing --- not art, not fare.
